BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND CURRENT STATUS OF LAHARIGHAT BPHC
Background of LAHARIGHAT BPHC
Laharighat is a Block in the Morigaon District of Assam. According to Census 2011 information the sub- district code of Laharighat Block is 02028. Total Area of Laharighat is 229 Km including 227.58 km rural area and 1.03 km urban area. Laharighat has a population of 390513 peoples.
The Block covers an area of 465.76 sq. km with population density of 1630 per sq.km . The block is bounded by the mighty Brahmaputra on the Northern part , Bhurbandha Block PHC on the Southern part, Jhargaon Block PHC on the West South Karbi Anglong district on the Southern part, Nagaon District on the Eastern part and Kamrup District on the Western part. The greater part of the block is an alluvial plain, criss-crossed with numerous rivers and water ways and dotted with many beels and marshes. The mighty Brahmaputra flows along with the northern boundary of the block.
The general appearance of the block is extremely picturesque. On a clear day in the winter the view to the north is bounded by the blue ranges of the outer Himalayas, behind which snowy peaks glisten brightly in the sun, while to the west and the south of the block lie range upon range of lower hills, whose sides are covered with luxuriant vegetation of the tropical forest.
Under Laharighat Block there are 4 Police Station i.e.-Laharighat Police Station, Moirabari Police Station. Bhuragaon Police Station & Borchala Police Station. There are 2 Dev.Block & 2 Revenue Circle Office under Laharighat Block namely Laharighat & Moirabari Dev. Block , Laharighat & Bhuragaon Revenue Circle Office.There are 2 Social Welfare Dept. office & 1 B.E.E.O Office under Laharighat BPHC.
